We don’t measure a successful dog walk by how many blocks we cover.

Dogs need opportunities to sniff, explore, move their bodies, and engage with their environment. They also need someone who recognizes when today’s walk needs to look different from yesterday’s.

Every visit begins with an assessment of your dog’s behavior and overall well-being. We check the weather, make sure their collar, harness, and leash fit securely, gather the necessary supplies, and create a calm environment before heading outside.

During the walk, we continue monitoring your dog and what’s happening around us. We give dogs time to sniff and explore, avoid interactions with unfamiliar people and pets, and cross the street or change direction when another dog approaches.

Our focus is always quality over distance.

What Happens During a Dog Walking Visit?

Every dog’s routine is different, so visits are personalized based on your instructions and what your dog needs that day.

Depending on the scheduled visit, care may include:

A neighborhood walk and potty break
Time to sniff and explore
Fresh water
Feeding when scheduled
Oral medication when needed
Indoor play and enrichment
Wiping wet or muddy paws when requested or needed
Time to cool down and settle after exercise
Bringing in packages
Returning your dog to their crate, gated area, or preferred space before we leave

We believe in quality over distance. Every walk is about your dog's happiness and well-being.

We also pay attention to timing after exercise. Dogs are given an opportunity to calm down before being fed or offered a large amount of water rather than immediately transitioning from strenuous activity.

At the end of every visit, you’ll receive a detailed update through our client portal. Updates can include photos, video, a summary of the visit, and your dog’s report card so you’re never left wondering how their walk went.

When the Weather Changes, the Visit Changes Too

Booking a dog walking visit doesn’t mean we’re going to force your dog through a full walk when conditions aren’t safe or comfortable.

We monitor the weather at every visit and adjust accordingly.

On very hot or cold days, we may shorten outdoor walking time and spend more of the visit indoors with play and enrichment. If it’s raining lightly and conditions are safe, we can still walk. During heavy rain, we’ll make sure your dog gets outside for a potty break and then use the remaining time for indoor activities and attention.

We never walk dogs when lightning is present.

Your dog’s age, breed, health, behavior, and tolerance for the conditions matter too. The right decision for one dog isn’t necessarily the right decision for another.

Before heading outside, we make sure your dog’s leash, harness, collar, and other walking equipment fit securely. During walks, we monitor the surrounding environment and deliberately avoid interactions with unfamiliar dogs and people, regardless of how social your dog may normally be.

If something concerns us, we communicate with you.

We also have established procedures for emergencies and unexpected situations. When veterinary care is needed, our structure allows the sitter to stay focused on your pet while an administrator communicates with you and helps coordinate what happens next.

Reliable Care From a Trained Team

Pet Sitting Pawfection is intentionally a team-based pet care company. That means your dog’s care isn’t dependent on a single person always being available.

Typically, two to three sitters are associated with a dog. Our goal is not to have a revolving door of people entering your home. We want your dog to have consistency while also making sure there is a trained backup who understands our procedures and can step in when needed.

Our employees are background checked, insured and bonded, and complete more than 25 hours of training before working independently with clients. Team members also receive ongoing training through Pet Sitting Pawfection, online educational resources, and dog trainers we work closely with.

There is another layer of support behind your dog’s sitter, too. Administrators oversee daily schedules and visits. Sitters receive their schedules through an app along with daily reminders, and the administrative team monitors visits to make sure sitters are where they need to be when they need to be there. If an issue arises, someone is available to help find a solution.

It creates the reliability of a professional pet care company while still allowing your dog to develop relationships with the people who regularly care for them.

Pet Sitting Pawfection’s professional pet care experience dates back to 2015.

Over the years, we’ve worked with puppies, senior dogs, rescues, anxious dogs, working breeds, reactive dogs, small dogs like Yorkies, large dogs like Great Danes, and plenty of outgoing dogs who love just about everyone.

Pet Sitting Pawfection carries insurance for pet sitting, dog walking, and pet transportation and is bonded.

The owner is a Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) and completes continuing education each year to maintain that certification. She has also completed pet CPR and first aid training. The Pet Sitting Pawfection team receives regular training from her as well as through online resources and dog trainers she works with closely.

How Consistency Helped One Anxious Dog Learn to Trust Us

A rescue Golden Retriever was extremely skittish when we began caring for him. He would only let people get so close, and even getting his leash on required patience.

So we didn’t rush him.

We showed up every weekday and let him tell us what he was comfortable doing. He loved fetch, so sometimes that was exactly what he needed. When he was ready for a walk, we walked. When he needed more time before being leashed, we gave it to him.

Gradually, the routine became familiar.

The rescue retriever started getting excited when we arrived. He’d immediately grab his ball because he knew it was time to play. He became easier to leash, more comfortable with our presence, and increasingly willing to interact with us.

His trust didn’t happen because we forced it. It grew because we consistently showed up, paid attention to his cues, and let the relationship develop at his pace.

Dog Walking FAQs

Do you meet my dog before the first walk?

Yes. A meet and greet is required before services begin. We want to make sure we’re a good fit and give you an opportunity to show us their routine, where supplies are located, how we access your home, and anything else we need to know. We’ll also make sure you’re comfortable using our pet sitting portal.

Do you offer recurring dog walks?

Yes. Recurring weekly walks are how clients typically receive the most benefit from our dog walking service. They also provide consistency and help your dog develop a familiar routine with our team.

What if my dog is nervous or anxious?

We go at your dog’s pace and work closely with you to understand what makes them most comfortable. We’ll want to know about triggers, areas we should avoid, how your dog responds to being leashed, and anything else that can help create a positive experience.

Some dogs need several visits before they’re comfortable with a new sitter, and that’s okay. We can also work with approved calming treats or oral medications when appropriate and provide recommendations for dog trainers when additional support would be beneficial.

Can you walk multiple dogs from the same household?

Yes, as long as the sitter can safely manage the dogs and they do well walking together. If they need separate walks, we’ll structure the visit accordingly.

Do I provide my dog's walking supplies?

Yes. Please provide your dog’s leash, harness or collar, and poop bags. We also ask that you let us know where extra bags and other necessary supplies are located.

What happens if it rains?

If the rain is light and conditions are safe, we can still walk. If it’s raining too heavily for a normal walk, we’ll make sure your dog gets outside for a potty break and use the remaining visit for indoor play, enrichment, attention, and affection.

Can you administer medication?

Yes. We administer oral medications at no additional charge. Instructions should be clearly documented in your client portal, including the medication, dosage, timing, which pet receives it, and where it is located.

Will I receive an update after every walk?

Yes. Always. Your client portal is where you’ll receive reminders about upcoming services as well as your visit updates. Updates include our clock-in and clock-out times, a detailed message, photos, video, and your pet’s report card. You’ll also receive GPS data showing where we walked your dog.

How do you access my home?

We require an on-site method of entry. This can be a garage code, front-door code, lockbox, hide-a-key, or another on-site option you’re comfortable using.

Can I request a last-minute dog walk?

Yes. If we can fit the visit into our schedule, we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Availability will depend on the complexity of the request and your dog’s needs.

Are there dogs you cannot accept?

For the safety of our team, we cannot provide services for dogs with a bite history. Pet owners must also be comfortable working with our team-based care model, complete a meet and greet, and use our client portal.
